It’s the home stretch for the SportsPlex Summer League as only four teams remain after months of grinding on the hardcourt.
Henessy Training, DKBL, CKeil and Banner Boys are the final four teams who on Aug. 13, 2026, will duke it out during semi-final action with the chance to advance onto the league championship.
The league is run by the Saints Student Athletic Association (SSAA), with games every Thursday night at the St. Clair College SportsPlex. Admission to the games is free for everyone and the product on the court is top notch. Last season featured 55 players who were current or former college or professional players.
"I have always wanted to organize a competitive basketball league in the city and when I started my role with the SSAA, my team and I worked very hard to make it happen,” said Christian Seguin, Executive Director of the SSAA and assistant coach of St. Clair Men’s Basketball. “Windsor is full of basketball talent at every age level and having a stage for athletes of all ages to excel was definitely the goal."
The league has been steadily growing with each passing season. During its first season in 2024, there were 10 teams. In 2025, it grew to 12 squads and this year, the league featured a record 16 teams.
"Year one was a great year, but we knew we could grow the league even further if we offered a high-end experience to each and every player that signed up, which became the immediate focus,” Seguin said. "The SSAA has grown immensely over the past three years, and the league has grown right alongside it, along with three new additional sponsors.”
The league has full individualized statistics, media recaps, professional photography on site, and weekly graphics showcasing performances and big matchups across the league.
And the league has the talent to match the organization.
“The calibre of players is still at an all-time high,” said Seguin, noting two fifth-year St. Clair Men’s Basketball players Kyle Brown Fazekas and Brandon Harmon have been dominating all summer. The team also boasts top Division 1 players, and ‘juco’ (junior college) talent such as Jack Sorrel.
“And we even had two players leave the league at the week three mark, because they were offered professional contracts,” Seguin added.
“The SportsPlex Summer League is truly something special in the city that brings players from all different backgrounds and skill levels under one roof for some great basketball competition,” said SSAA President Robbie Durling. “The calibre of players in this league is what makes it special: one possession you’re guarding your friend or college peer and the next you’re guarding 6’9” professional Sam Muldrow of the Windsor Express. There’s nothing remotely like this in Windsor.”
