A lot has changed since 2006, but one legacy event at St. Clair College has remained a staple event on the gaming calendar.
No Man's LAN first started back in 2006 and was initiated by St. Clair's IT Club, with the goal of bringing together the school's growing gaming community. Since then, St. Clair has become one of the top Esports colleges in North America, and the event has grown along with the College's investments.
The 20th anniversary offering is packed with events, including a Rocket League Invitational, with other colleges and universities from around Ontario and Michigan signing up to bring their teams to compete for the cash prize. Other major tournaments include Marvel Rivals, Valorant, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Fortnite.
Event lead and Esports Administration and Entrepreneurship student Adrian Malhiers says it's important for today's students to honour the legacy of No Man's LAN, a generation later.
"It's an event that means a lot to a lot of people, and by doing things like the Rocket League Invitational, we're paying homage to the past," said Malhiers.
"Celebrating 20 years of No Man's LAN is a proud milestone for the St. Clair College community," said Pratham Singh Benipal, SRC President. "What makes it truly special is that the event continues to be planned, organized, and run by students for students. The SRC is proud to support the students who keep this tradition going year after year."
Second-year students in the Esports Administration and Entrepreneurship Program will oversee this event and will partner with other school groups such as the Esports Club and the Culinary Club.
Malhiers adds collaboration is special because it showcases the variety of programming at St. Clair.
"It helps us to put a spotlight on other aspects of the College, and it's a good way to bring different parts of St. Clair together," Malhiers said.
The event is open to the entire community and features gaming for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
Tickets for No Man's LAN 18 can be purchased on the day of the event, or at the front desk of the Nexus Arena. Visit the signups for tournaments page.
