In this course, students will examine the transition in role for Personal Support Worker (PSW) to Registered Practical Nurse (RPN). This course will include a simulation boot camp to assist in the identification of the transition in scope for PSW to RPN. Throughout the theory in this course, students will examine from various lenses the change in role for PSW to RPN. This will include an examination of scope of practice, nursing process, communication and documentation as well as critical thinking, decision-making and clinical judgment. Through the identification of the students' current scope, they will be able to clearly see the transition required in their continued studies to become an RPN.
This is one of six courses in the PSW-PN Pathways. For important information about the Pathway, please go to https://ontariolearn.com/pswtopn/ before registering. Before submitting your registration information, please read over important PSW-PN Pathways information and admissions requirements.
