Course Prerequisites:
There are no formal prerequisites for this course. However, it is ideally suited for individuals with a current or past dental background who are seeking H.A.R.P. certification.
This HARP-approved certification program is designed to ensure participants meet the qualification standards outlined in the Healing Arts Radiation Protection (HARP) Act.
This course is specifically designed for individuals with a dental background, including those currently employed in a dental practice in Ontario, as well as internationally trained dental professionals seeking HARP certification. Topics include the exposure, processing, and handling of dental radiographs, along with hands-on training in intraoral radiographic techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
A strong focus is placed on client management skills, ensuring participants are well-prepared to communicate effectively and provide comfort during radiographic procedures.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have demonstrated their competency in accordance with HARP Act requirements and will be qualified to operate dental x-ray machines in Ontario.
Disclaimer: This course cannot be used as an exemption or equivalency for any radiography course within the full-time Dental Assisting Program (H915) or the Dental Hygiene Program (H800).
