Discover the art of timepiece maintenance in this hands-on course designed for the hobbyist. You will learn how to repair and restore older, mechanical clocks while gaining practical skills in identifying issues, disassembling components, and performing essential restorations.

NOTE: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times in the lab for this course.

The following items are mandatory for each participant to have on the first day of class:

  • Safety glasses and/or prescription safety glasses with side visor/shield
  • Lab coat
  • Rubber/plastic gloves
  • Tools required: slot, Phillips, and Robertson screwdrivers; needle-nose pliers; side and end cutters; measuring tape; a small toolbox; and a small camera (a cellphone camera is acceptable)
  • An 8-day American key-wound clock
    • You must provide your own clocks to work on throughout the course
