Students in the Sports and Recreation Management program raised $5,000 in a 3 km run/walk that was held at the SportsPlex on April 10 to help children cover the costs of playing in sports leagues.

First-year students started the planning process in the fall semester and turned their work over to third-year students in the winter semester to finish the project.

The students exceeded their initial goal of registering 70 participants and had 106 people who came out to enjoy a great 3 km walk/run which circled the South Windsor campus.

Proceeds from the event will be distributed as follows:

  • $3000.00 for KidSports – provides grants to help cover the registration expenses so that ALL kids aged 18 and under can play a season of their favorite sport.
  • $1000.00 - 2 bursaries in the amount of $500 each for Sport and Recreation Management  students.
  • $1000.00 for the College's Athletic Hall of Fame.
