This course introduces the student to the major vascular systems interrogated by the diagnostic medical sonographer. The student will review the anatomy and physiology of vascular systems including upper and lower extremity venous systems, extracranial vessels and vessels of the abdomen and their related pathologies. Students will gain an understanding of hemodynamics and become familiarized with the process of performing a complete examination by optimizing ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic gray-scale images and utilize enhanced sonographic techniques such as pulsed-wave spectral analysis and colour flow Doppler.
