This course will introduce the student to the anatomy, physiology and pathology of structures requiring high resolution imaging and the related invasive procedures. Students will study the relational and cross sectional anatomy in order to examine structures such as the thyroid, breast, and scrotum, as well as musculoskeletal and superficial structures. Students will examine sonographic appearance, scanning techniques and protocols to acquire images. In the lab setting, students will perform the technical analysis of sonographic data to form a technical impression and further develop critical thinking skills in the correlation of sonographic findings with clinical history and relevant available diagnostic data.
