This course will introduce the student to sonographic appearances of the female and male pelvis beginning with relational and sectional anatomy. Emphasis will be placed on performing sonographic examination of gynecological structures using real time assessment, 2D measures, endovaginal and Doppler assessment techniques. Students will learn to recognize sonographic appearances of common anomalous and pathological conditions with a focus on description of the disease, its clinical presentation, differential diagnosis and associated findings. Topics will also include contraceptive devices, infertility procedures and various surgeries and conditions related to female gynecological pathophysiology as well as scanning techniques for the male pelvis.
