This course familiarizes the student with the elements of medical terminology. Course work includes examining medical words through knowledge of roots, prefixes and suffixes, word building, abbreviations and symbols in relation to human anatomy and physiology. Students are introduced to reading and interpretation of medical orders and reports with an emphasis on terminology specific to the student's field of study.
