This course prepares students to effectively advocate on behalf of clients before a court or tribunal decision-maker. Students develop skills and techniques to properly represent and advocate throughout a court or tribunal process including preparing the client and witnesses, presenting opening and closing statements, conducting examinations and cross-examinations, and introducing and challenging evidence. The ethics of advocacy will be examined and relevant rules of professional conduct revisited. Students will be coached using a range of exercises in preparation for mock trials.
