This course is designed to enable Paralegal Program students to observe and apply certain knowledge and skills learned and put theory into practice. Students participate in "satellite forms clinic placement" to provide assistance to members of the public in filling out regulatory forms and interpreting regulatory documents (within the permitted scope of paralegal practice). The course provides opportunity for students to practice skills such as interviewing, time-management, file-management, interpersonal communication and problem solving. Students apply knowledge in substantive areas of law, determine legal issues and consult with supervisor in deciding on proper referral. In addition to a rotation in the clinic, the students will acquire a greater understanding of the judicial process and professional responsibility through the viewing of court and tribunal proceedings and networking in the community. This course provides opportunity to identify real ethical issues and apply the Code of Conduct.
