This course explores the development of Western musical theatre from its modern origins to today's Broadway. Students study the genre's cultural context and artistic conventions while applying vocal, acting, and dance techniques in performance. Through selected repertoire, they examine how music, text, and movement combine to create dramatic meaning. Coursework includes creative and interpretive exercises that build artistic decision-making, collaboration, and expressive skills. By the end of the course, students will understand musical theatre as both an evolving art form and a medium for personal artistic expression.
