Because of both the fast-paced and team-based nature of the hospitality profession, staff and managers are often required to communicate effectively with guests, managers, subordinates, and peers. Students will learn to assess an intended audience, determine the purpose of the communication, and select and correctly employ the appropriate business communication format including letters, email, memos, instant messages, reports and proposals. Students will use the digital tools available to create, edit, and transmit the written message. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring that the message is clear, grammatically correct, and appropriate in tone and medium for the intended receiver.
