Students will investigate the challenges of providing effective leadership to both event staff and event volunteers. They will examine the event manager's role in planning, organizing and developing an effective team. Students will compare and contrast the unique roles of staff and volunteers that influence human resource decisions. Managing the HR cycle:, planning, recruitment, interviewing, screening, training, and motivation will be a focus of this course. Various policies, procedures, standards and regulations associated with employees and volunteers will be discussed.
