This course provides the foundational knowledge required to support safe competent and ethical dental assisting practice. Students examine principles of clinical dentistry infection prevention and control occupational health and safety and dental assisting procedures (Levels I and II). Emphasis is placed on integrating theoretical knowledge with professional judgment ethical decision-making and adherence to regulatory and practice standards within the dental environment. Students also develop an understanding of their role as members of the dental team and an appreciation for professional identity within the dental assisting profession.
