The main emphasis of the course is on the maintenance and troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LANs). The course uses the Open System Interconnection (OSI) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) layered models to examine the services and the functionality of protocols in each layer. Students will build simple LAN topologies by applying basic principles of cabling, network devices configurations, and implementing Internet Protocol (IP) addressing schemes.
