This course is an exploration of hip-hop culture and its impact on the world.  Students will discover how hip-hop developed as well as the various forms it has taken over time and depending on the locale and cultural background of the performer.  Particular attention will be paid to the impact of hip-hop culture on music, fashion, popular culture, language, social movements, and political activism in North America and around the world.
