Students will be taught the theory of design, installation and operation of various transformers. Students will learn about operating maps and nomenclature. They will apply the work protection code through various classroom exercises. They will learn how to select fibre and rubber cover-up for various voltages as well as the proper care and use of this equipment. The course will discuss the design and installation of secondary buss and triplex conductors. Students will learn how to select the appropriate size and voltage of three phase transformers and learn installation methods for pole mounted. Single phase meter installation, removal and meter reading will be discussed.
