This advanced course is designed to enable Paralegal Program students to apply certain knowledge and skills learned and put theory into practice. Students participate in "satellite forms clinic placement" and provide assistance to members of the public in filling out regulatory forms and interpreting regulatory documents (within the permitted scope of paralegal practice) and assess legal issues and make appropriate referrals under the supervision of professional staff. The course provides opportunity for students to practice skills such as interviewing, time-management, file-management, interpersonal communication and problem solving. In addition to a rotation in the clinic, the students will have the opportunity a greater understanding of the need for access to justice and professional responsibility through viewing and analysis of court and tribunal proceedings and the completion of a related community project. This course provides opportunity to identify real ethical issues and apply the Code of Conduct.
