Course Code

Course Credit

This general education course has a dual purpose: to raise awareness of enduring and current issues, and to express the impact of these issues on oneself and society. Students examine a variety of issues such as class, gender, race, individual and group behaviour, ethics, morality and conflict as portrayed in short expository prose selections. They engage in classroom discussion, and demonstrate understanding of these issues through various writing assignments. Emphasis is placed on broadening the student's understanding of the impact of literary elements and devices on Canadian and World Culture, and to effectively express that understanding through writing projects.
