In this course students will examine the Federal and Provincial Canadian Correctional System from it's punitive beginnings to the present day focus on rehabilitation. Topics will include:, History, Sentencing Factors, Probation, Parole Supervision, Profile of, Inmate Population, Correctional Officers, Careers in Corrections, Volunteerism, Alternatives to Confinement, Categories of Offenders and, Prison Life in Canada. Students will research current correctional practices within the Canadian Criminal Justice System.
