As an individual contractor, freelance creative or employed by a company, the knowledge of how a business is run in the industry plays a critical role in the success of a graphic designer. In this course students will focus on self assessment, the development of a personal brand for promotion and market positioning, and the analysis of skills in the refinement of a personal portfolio. Students will develop presentation skills and practice professional conduct in interview and work place situations. Students will also discover how to invoice, create estimates and manage finances, as well as submit proposals and quotations at an industry standard level. Guest speakers will join various sessions to share insights into various industry practices and career paths.
