This course focuses on the standard practices of Screenwriting. Students will learn to practice research, critical analysis, brainstorming, and established screenwriting techniques to create and refine story ideas. Long and short format Filmmaking will be discussed as well as the Springboard, Outline and Script stages of polishing a concept. The material examined in this class will form a foundation for subsequent conceptual work in group projects. Dramatic and narrative elements such as Plot, Tension, Suspense, Conflict Resolution, Character Arc and Dialogue will be discussed within the context of creating interesting and complex Characters.
