The Hon. Monte McNaughton visits St. Clair College

Today, The Hon. Monte McNaughton Ontario's Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development toured our St. Clair College Skilled Trades Regional Training Centre on St. Etienne Boulevard in East Windsor. This was the Minister's first visit to our centre.

The Minster was part of a roundtable discussion with College faculty, administration, students, apprenticeship graduates and community partners. He was fully informed about the uniqueness of this model of skills training emphasizing the participation of local manufacturing industry where our students produce parts for our community partners.

Minister McNaughton was joined by Rick Nicholls, MPP for Chatham Kent and Leamington.

Operating since 2008, the St. Clair College Skilled Trades Regional Training Centre is a specialized skilled trade program to address the changing needs of industry with an innovative approach combining work opportunity and training, preparing people for the job in 46 weeks - called "Earn While You Learn." It focuses on machinery and skills needed in the manufacturing sector to produce workforce-ready talent on equipment they will use in the workplace.
