(Kingston, Ontario) - The St. Clair College Women’s Basketball team (13-8) punched their ticket to the OCAA Championship Tournament with a 74-60 win over St. Lawrence College (9-9) in Kingston Saturday afternoon. The Saints took control early in the game and entered the 2nd quarter with a 20-14 lead where the teams played even until halftime. With St. Clair holding a 31-25 advantage after the intermission St. Lawrence made inroads when St. Clair’s Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph’s) committed her 3rd foul and was relegated to the bench. St. Lawrence was suddenly within 3 points which forced the Saints to respond with a run that widened the gap to 47-38 after three quarters. St. Clair propelled themselves into a 19-point lead midway through the fourth quarter and St. Lawrence could only come scrape their way back to a 10-point deficit in the final minute. But the outcome was decided at that point and the Saints were able to cruise down the stretch to the road playoff win.
