This course starts by looking at the differing health status' of individuals and groups by exploring different terms and concepts associated with health and rehabilitation. The course looks at the fundamentals of disease processes such as homeostasis, inflammation, healing and the effects of immobilization. The course looks at the differing elements of rehabilitation such as prevention, remediation, compensation and adaptation as they pertain to clinical interventions. The course will examine a number of clinical tests relevant to the role of the OTA & PTA. Finally, the course will examine the prevalence, pathology, general management, and role of the OTA & PTA in management of diseases of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and peripheral nervous systems. This course is the first of two courses addressing the study of clinical pathology.
