This course places students in the CNC lab, on the shop floor, where they set-up and operate a CNC 3 axis vertical milling machine and a CNC lathe to produce individual project designs. The understanding of advanced CAM-generated tool path strategies and set-ups will be studied along with post-processing and transferring of NC files on both the CNC lathe and CNC 3 axis vertical mill. Emphasis will also be placed on the processes of quality assurance;here, students will select and use appropriate metrology equipment to measure and ensure part dimensionality to indented design specifications.
