ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS AND ENTRANCE AWARDS

St Clair College honours freshmen students' outstanding secondary school or equivalent academic achievement with academic scholarships and entrance awards. These awards have been created to publicly honour excellence in those who will be attending St. Clair College.

The College will award two (2) Academic Scholarships (one to a male and one to a female) to freshmen students who have been accepted to St. Clair College from each high school in the Essex and Chatham/Kent area. These Awards will be presented to the two students with the highest average (minimum of 75% at the college(C)/ university(U)/ university college(U/C)/advanced level, or 85% at the general level) based on the criteria below. Each Academic Scholarship is valued at $1,000.00, which will be applied toward tuition fees at St. Clair College.

In addition, the College will present Entrance Awards to students who exhibit financial need and academic achievement (minimum of 70% at the college(C)/ university(U)/ university college(U/C)/advanced level, or 80% at the general level) and meet the criteria below. Each Entrance Award is valued at $500.00, which will be applied toward tuition fees at St. Clair College.

Award recipients will be notified with their acceptance letter.

CONDITIONS AND CRITERIA:

Students must be:

  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants
  • entering a post-secondary St. Clair College program for the first time
  • require financial assistance with their education
  • attending an Ontario secondary school or equivalent
  • studying a minimum of 6 senior subjects
  • have a minimum average of:
      75% at the college(C)/ university(U)/ university college(U/C)/advanced level, or 85% at the general level to be considered for an Academic Scholarship; or,
      70% at the college(C)/ university(U)/ university college(U/C)/advanced level or, 80% at the general level to be considered for an Entrance Award in 6 senior (grade 12/OAC) level courses, one of which must be Grade 12 or OAC English. Marks received by March 15th will be used to determine recipients. It is expected that if mid-term grades are used to determine an average, these grades will be maintained.
  • a graduate of an Ontario secondary school by June.
