ONTARIO STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
OSAP is mainly a loan program. An individual assessment, based on information supplied by the student on an application, determines what funds, if any, a student will receive from this program. Funds from OSAP are provided from: the Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan, Ontario Student Opportunity Grant, Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for Top Scholarship, Millennium Bursary, Millennium/Ontario Access Grant, Ontario Access Grant, Canada Study Grant for Students with Dependents, Canada Access Grant for Students from low-income families, and Canada Access Grant for Students with Permanent Disabilities.

Canadian citizens, permanent residents and Protected Persons are eligible to apply for OSAP.
Applications forms are available in early June from the Student Financial Aid Office at each eligible post secondary institution in Ontario and from the guidance offices of Ontario secondary schools. Students may also apply online at http://osap.gov.on.ca.

ONTARIO SPECIAL BURSARY PLAN (OSBP)
This program is designed to assist students who are in serious financial need. To qualify for OSBP, an individual is required to register as a part-time student at the post-secondary level or as a full-time or part-time student in Academic Upgrading or English as A Second Language. Funding is subject to Ministry approval of the academic program.

ONTARIO WORK STUDY PLAN
The Ontario Work Study Plan was added as a plan to help financially needy students meet their educational costs by working part-time during the school year without causing an excessive dependence on loan funding.

STUDENT EMERGENCY LOAN FUND
An emergency loan fund has been established to assist students who run into financial difficulty during the school year who are waiting for their OSAP funding. Applications for these short term loans are made to the Financial Aid Office.

ST. CLAIR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES
St. Clair is fortunate to have a variety of scholarships and bursaries available to students. The College awards approximately $1.5 million in scholarships and bursaries per year.

These awards are given as a result of the generosity of businesses, organizations, and individuals who have made monetary donations to assist students with the cost of their education. The provincial government has also designated funds to aid students with financial burdens. The criteria for scholarships and bursaries vary. The majority require that financial need be shown. Awards are also based on program, grades, community or college involvement, disabilities or ethnic background.
