ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
OSSD with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level plus:
  • Grade 12 Math (C) or (U)
  • Senior Level Physics (C) or (U)
Mature students - See Admission Procedures for details.

PROGRAM GOALS
This new program is the first of its kind to be offered in Ontario. It will prepare graduates for careers in energy utilization with a focus on the efficient application, design, control and management of energy conversion systems for industry, buildings and transportation. Both traditional and alternative energy resource development and applications will be part of the curriculum. Graduates can pursue numerous careers paths in the field of energy conversion and design of energy systems for buildings, industrial processes and transportation. Sectors served will include multi-residential, commercial, institutional and industrial energy users.

Students will study energy systems; harnessing energy from renewable sources – sun, wind, water, geothermal heat, and biomass – in order to have a sustainable environment that will meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Topics on energy management, energy efficiency and conservation, and sustainable building and development strategies are also covered in the program.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Apply the principles of green construction and eco-based management for sustainability
  • Design, analyze, and troubleshoot working prototypes of sustainable energy systems and subsystems to meet job requirements, functional specifications and relevant standards
  • Apply principles of networking, microprocessor systems, instrumentation, telecommunications and other related technologies to monitor and control energy systems in buildings and industrial applications
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
This program prepares students for employment in the sustainable energy field, with a focus on energy systems for buildings, industry and transportation.
