St. Clair College - Full Time Programs

HOW TO QUALIFY

Applicants who started High School in Ontario in September 1999 or later (OSS):
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a majority of credits at the College (C), University (U), College/University (M), or Open (O) level or equivalent.
OR
Mature Student status (nineteen years of age or older as of the first day of classes and do no have an OSSD or equivalent).

Applicants who started High School in Ontario prior to September 1999 (OSIS):
Ontario Secondary Diploma (OSSD) with a majority of credits at the General or Advanced level or equivalent
OR
Mature student status (nineteen years of age or older as of the first day of classes and do not have an OSSD or equivalent.)

Mature Students
If you are a Mature Student, you will be required to write an Admissions Test.

GED Holders
If you have GED (General Education Development) certificate, it is equivalent to (for admission purposes) an OSSD with grade 12 English and grade 11 mathematics at the general level. You will also be required to complete the program specific subjects for admission.

Program Specific Requirements
All applicants must meet program specific requirements. Please consult individual program descriptions for the specific subjects required for admission and details of any selection process.

Oversubscribed Programs
Applicants will be accepted into oversubscribed programs according to the following order:

Resident of Ontario

Resident of Provinces and Territories of Canada

All other applicants

When applying to an oversubscribed program, please note that the College will accept “progress” grades for the purposes of ranking your application. These marks must be submitted by your Guidance Counsellor to the College by March 5, 2010, Attn: Registrar’s Office by fax to 519-972-3811. In the absence of a progress grade, the minimum academic requirements to the program will be used.

Oversubscribed programs are Dental Hygiene, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Nursing BScN, Paramedic, Practical Nursing, and Veterinary Technician.

WAIT LIST
You may be waitlisted for a program if there are more acceptable candidates than available seats. If any of the accepted applicants decline the offer of admission, or fail to register, you may be taken from the waitlist. The waitlist is for the term to which you applied; it is not carried over from one term or one application year to another.

Physical Demands Requirements
All programs have a “physical demands” requirement that needs to be met in order to be employable in the related industry sector. Please refer to each program’s web page for the list of physical demands related to each program.

Students Educated Outside of North America
If you are studying or have studied outside of Canada, you will need to submit the following documents and applicable fees with your application:

all records (original or certified copies of all official certificates, transcripts in the original language and the English or French translation) of your high school and post-secondary education. These academic documents will be evaluated at ontariocolleges.ca on behalf of the Colleges and the assessments are for College use only. An assessment report indicating the highest level of education attained and specific score subjects successfully completed will be sent to your college choices;

proof of English proficiency (TOEFL Test) if you were educated in a language other than English. The minimum requirement is a score of 500 on the written test and 173 on the computerized test for most programs (excluding Bachelor of Science in Nursing – BScN (H850/K950).

HOW TO APPLY

The online application at ontariocolleges.ca is the quickest and easiest way to apply.

If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario Secondary School and prefer to use the paper application, you must obtain the appropriate form from your school. If you are not currently enrolled in an Ontario Secondary School and would like to use the paper application, please call the College to request one.
All application fees must accompany the application form.

Fall Term: February 1
Winter Term: September 15

The Colleges will continue to accept applications after the Equal Consideration Dates on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available seats (oversubscribed), completed applications received at ontariocolleges.ca by the Equal Consideration date will receive first consideration.
