This course is designed to train the plumber, pipe-fitter, or apprentice in the proper installation and testing procedures of required backflow prevention devices according to C.S.A. B 64-10 regulations and O.W.W.A. This course combines theoretical understanding of the operation, as well as hands-on testing and repair of the devices. Areas of Study: Legal Aspects and Codes, Causes of Backflow, Backflow Devices (Installation, Function, Application, Premise Location), Maintenance Procedures, Device Repair, Testing Procedures, Equipment Verification, Air Gap, Atmosphere Vacuum, Breaker, Double Check Valve, Assembly, Reduced Pressure Principle, and Backflow Preventer. 5 days, 40 hours. $1660.00 ($1,400.00 tuition + $260.00 materials.) Fees listed include certification fees & manuals.

BACKFLOW RECERTIFICATION

In this 2 day program, the learner will be reviewed on cross-connections and backflow prevention devices, code changes and new devices on the market. Anyone licensed before January 1, 2005 will be required to re-certify as per AWWA Canadian CCCC Manual #1, 2007. This certification will be for a five year period. This course is limited to 10 trainees only. 2 days, 16 hours. $710.00 ($450.00 tuition + $260.00 materials.) CANADA’S OZONE LAYER PROTECTION AWARENESS PROGRAM

Previously known as “CFC/HCFC/HFC Control in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry” Training Program, this new course will provide the same certification that is required to purchase and handle refrigerants across Canada, frequently known as ODS (Ozone Depletion Substances) or ODP (Ozone Depletion Prevention) certification. This course is for individuals who are involved with the handling, storing, maintaining or disposing of refrigerant. Course material from the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) will be covered followed by a written examination. A wallet size certificate will be issued by the HRAI based on passing mark of 75%. Course tuition Course is 1 day, 7 hours. $225.00. Fees listed include examination fee and course materials.
