Gearing Up - Motorcycle Courses

Please note: There is a risk of accident and personal injury in learning to operate a motorcycle.

IMPORTANT:
Students must be 16 years of age or older.
Students under 18 years of age, must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver before they will be allowed to participate in this class.

Transfer, Withdrawal and Refund Policy: No show = No refund.

If you do not show up or arrive late for your scheduled course, you will not receive a refund. Transfer to another section will be at the discretion of the College, subject to applicable charges and must be requested prior to the original course refund deadline. For MOT 103N courses- For a full refund a formal withdrawal must be made ONE full business prior to the course date. For MOT 112N courses- For a full refund a formal withdrawal must be made FIVE full business days prior to the course date.

After the start of a course, there are no refunds. Any refunds granted will be made at the discretion of College management ONLY, for exceptional circumstances. Please contact the Continuing Education department within 5 business days. It is the responsibility of the student to check their registration receipt and verify their registered course date against the section number and semester or term.

There is a risk of accident and personal injury in learning to operate a motorcycle.

It is a student’s responsibility to upgrade their license at a DriveTest Centre within 6 months of successful course completion. Any course results are invalid after 6 months.

All Canada Safety Council replacement certificates will be subject to a $25.00 fee.

A student will NOT be allowed to participate in any of our motorcycle courses if he/she does not have the following:

CLASS M2 LICENSE TRAINING - MOTORCYCLE RIDING
MOT 103N
CANADA SAFETY COUNCIL’S "GEARING UP" PROGRAM
This Canada Safety Council Motorcycle Training Program provides on the bike practical instruction for the beginner: no previous experience is necessary. While most of the course is practical, information is also given on: motorcycle maintenance, defensive driving, risk awareness and rules of the road. The course provides motorcycles, fuel and lubricants, expert instruction, written materials, student kit and testing and evaluation for your M2 Motorcycle Driver’s license. Canada Safety Council certificates will only be awarded to students upon successful completion of the training hours AND testing.

Pre-requisite: Ontario M1 beginner permit.

Students are to meet in the main lobby for all motorcycle courses, prior to the course start time.

FALL

WINTER

MOTORCYCLE RETEST
MOT 115N
This course is offered to students who did not successfully complete the requirements of the Motorcycle Training Course within the current training season (MOT 103N). Based on Ministry standards, students are allowed ONE opportunity for a re-test per course. If a student fails a re-test, they must repeat the motorcycle riding course to be tested. Students must pass the M2 license test with our instructors to obtain the Canada Safety Council Certificate for the training course. Windsor students must pre-register by calling 519-972-2727, Ext. 4575.

Pre-requisite: Ontario M1 beginner permit. Participants must have completed a full MOT 103N course this season.

WINTER

M2 EXIT MOTORCYCLE TRAINING
MOT 112N
This course is designed in conjunction with the legal requirements of the Ministry of Transportation Graduated Licensing System. It will meet and exceed the requirements to have motorcycle riders currently riding with an M2 Class License to upgrade their status to an M Class Licensed motorcycle rider.

The M2 Exit program prepares the student for a road test. In addition students will learn the techniques and etiquette associated with:

  • Roadside stops
  • Highway riding
  • Group riding
  • Lane changing
  • Curves
  • Intersections
  • Riding in residential and business areas

This must be completed within five years of completing your M2. Students MUST bring their own insured motorcycles. No motorized tricycles will be permitted. Important note: Students are tested in the parking lot for basic riding skills prior to any on road portions of this course using the MOST II skills test. If students do not successfully pass the MOST II skills test, they will not be allowed to continue with the remaining on road portions of the course and no refunds will be offered. Students are expected to have the licensing minimum of 18 months riding experience.

Pre-requisite: Ontario M2 license for 22 months (or 18 months if you have taken an approved M1 exit course.)
