Gearing Up - Motorcycle Courses

Warm Weather Tips for Motorcycle Course Participants:

It is helpful to bring the following with you to your course during warm weather:

  • A refillable water container
  • Frozen water or juices
  • Sport style drinks
  • A small cooler with ice
  • A washcloth you can wet and cool down with
  • Sunscreen
  • Lots of snacks and fruit for break times
Please note: There is a risk of accident and personal injury in learning to operate a motorcycle.

IMPORTANT:
Students must be 16 years of age or older to participate.
Students under 18 years of age, must have a parent or guardian attend the first 30 minutes of the course in order to complete a waiver. Waivers must be signed in the presence of a Senior program instructor before these students will be allowed to participate in any courses.

A student will NOT be allowed to participate in any of our motorcycle courses if he/she does not have the following:
  • sturdy jacket and pants
  • sturdy boots (MUST COVER THE ANKLE)
  • full fingered leather gloves
  • a Department of Transportation approved helmet (no novelty)
  • Eye protection (impact resistant glasses or face shield)
  • A valid Ontario M1 beginners' motorcycle license for MOT 103N
  • A valid Ontario M2 license for MOT 112N
  • A waterproof jacket is also recommended for rainy days. Courses run rain or shine!
Students are to meet in the main lobby of the South Windsor or Thames Campus for all motorcycle courses, prior to the start time.

Transfer, Withdrawal and Refund Policy: No show = No refund.

If you do not show up or arrive late for your scheduled course, you will not receive a refund. Transfer to another section will be at the discretion of the College, subject to applicable charges and must be requested prior to your initial course date. For MOT 103N courses- For a full refund a formal withdrawal must be made ONE full business prior to the course date. For MOT 112N courses- For a full refund a formal withdrawal must be made FIVE full business days prior to the course date.

After the start of a course, refunds will be made at the discretion of College management ONLY. Please contact the Continuing Education department within 5 business days. It is the responsibility of the student to check their registration receipt and verify their registered course date against the section number and semester or term.

Classes fill up fast so register early!

There is a risk of accident and personal injury in learning to operate a motorcycle.

Any course paperwork involving license upgrade, must be presented to a DriveTest Centre within 6 months of course completion. All Canada Safety Council replacement certificates will be subject to a $25.00 fee.


CLASS M2 LICENSE TRAINING - MOTORCYCLE RIDING
MOT 103N
CANADA SAFETY COUNCIL’S "GEARING UP" PROGRAM
This Canada Safety Council Motorcycle Training Program provides on the bike practical instruction for the beginner: no previous experience is necessary. While most of the course is practical, information is also given on: motorcycle maintenance, defensive driving, risk awareness and rules of the road. The course provides motorcycles, fuel and lubricants, expert instruction, written materials, student kit and testing and evaluation for your M2 Motorcycle Driver’s license. Canada Safety Council certificates will only be awarded to students upon successful completion of the training hours AND testing. $425.00
Pre-requisite: Ontario M1 beginner permit.

MOTORCYCLE RETEST
MOT 115N
This course is offered to students who did not successfully complete the requirements of the Motorcycle Training Course within the current training season (MOT 103N). Students will be allowed warm up time on the motorcycle prior to the M1 Exit test. Based on Ministry standards, students are allowed ONE opportunity for a re-test per course. If a student fails a re-test, they must repeat the motorcycle riding course to be tested. Students must pass the M2 license test with our instructors to obtain the Canada Safety Council Certificate for the training course. Cost is $50.00 for participants of a MOT 103N course this season. Windsor students must pre-register.
Pre-requisite: Ontario M1 beginner permit.

M2 EXIT MOTORCYCLE TRAINING
MOT 112N
This course is designed in conjunction with the legal requirements of the Ministry of Transportation Graduated Licensing System. It will meet and exceed the requirements to have motorcycle riders currently riding with an M2 Class License to upgrade their status to an M Class Licensed motorcycle rider. REMINDER: This must be completed within five years of completing your M2. Students MUST bring their own insured motorcycles. Under no circumstances will we supply motorcycles for this course. 2 wheeled motorcycles ONLY. No motorized tricycles will be permitted. $375.00
Pre-requisite: Ontario M2 license for 22 months (or 18 months if you have taken an approved M1 exit course.)

Students are to meet in the main lobby for all motorcycle courses, prior to the course start time.

M2 EXIT MOTORCYCLE RETEST
MOT 114N
This course is offered to students who did not successfully complete the requirements of the M2 Exit Training Course (MOT 112N) to upgrade their status to an M Class Licensed motorcycle rider. Students must have taken MOT 112N within the current season. Based on Ministry standards, students are allowed only ONE opportunity for a re-test per course.
