Saints Announce New Men's Volleyball Coach



The Athletic Department at St. Clair College is very pleased to announce Rob Lynch as its new Head Men's Volleyball Coach.

Lynch becomes the 3rd Head Coach in the program's 10 year history and succeeds Scott Clements who stepped down recently.  Lynch is well known throughout volleyball circles in Windsor and Essex County. He played locally for W.D. Lowe and Kennedy high schools before moving on to a be key player with the Windsor Netwits in the Men's Open A Ontario Men's League.

Rob has 27 years of experience coaching volleyball. He recently coached the Essex Country Vipers 18U team from 2001 until last year. Before that he was the head coach with the Riverside Volleyball Club 18U and 16U boys teams from 1999-2001. His coaching career highlight was coaching his son Jordan and the 18U team at Riverside to a provincial gold medal in 2001. Prior to joining Riverside Lynch spent time as an assistant and head coach with the Ontario Volleyball Association Region 3 17U team.  

Lynch is most proud of the fact that he has coached 34 provincial players,18 national players and 8 NCAA players; 5 of which had Final Four appearances. Lynch has his NCCP Level 1 Theory and Practical Volleyball Certification and is in the process of getting his Level II.  Rob has also attended several United States Volleyball Association clinics and seminars featuring many US National Coaches.

“I am really looking forward to coming to St. Clair College and taking over the Men's Volleyball Program”, commented Lynch. “It will be an exciting challenge to build a championship calibre program and to build upon the great tradition of athletics at St. Clair.”

Rob is currently employed at Chrysler and has three children.

Rounding out the coaching staff are assistant coaches Adam Garbe and Larry Jean. Both Garbe and Jean are former St. Clair Saints and their youth and enthusiasm are a welcome addition to the staff.

“We are confident that Rob, Adam and Larry will do a tremendous job for St. Clair College and the Men's Volleyball program”, commented Saints Athletic Coordinator Jay Shewfelt.  “They bring an energetic approach to coaching with excellent technical expertise.  We feel the entire staff complement each other very well and are looking forward to having our men's volleyball program challenge for an OCAA medal on a yearly basis under their direction.”
