Windsor, ON:
Project challenges students to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Interior Design students in the Environmental Design class were challenged by their Faculty Patrick Redko to "make a difference". The challenge - to develop an environmental awareness campaign to illustrate how important it is to "reduce, reuse and recycle".
Three distinct projects were developed. One group of students worked with the City of Windsor and implemented a recycling plan for a local apartment building, handed out recycle bins to the apartment dwellers, and worked with the city to arrange bi-weekly pickups.
The second group recycled furniture that was destined to be thrown out and gave them a renewed life. They very creatively turned junk into art pieces and refurbished chairs.
The third group collected coffee cups, created temporary recycle bins and diverted some 1100 cups from the waste bins. They created a display to make people aware of the importance of recycling.
Congratulations to all of the students for challenging us to "think green".
