Advertising Students Win Gold

A team of third year St. Clair College students has won the gold medal at this year's Cossette/AEAC (Advertising Educators Association of Canada) Advertising and Marketing Communications Competition held in Toronto.

The team consisting of five Advertising students, Ryan Hewgill, Jeff Popovich, Helena Wiebe, Samantha Velecky and Dena Winter; along with Graphic Design grad Melissa Bashura competed against seven other Ontario colleges to win gold.  The competition involved developing an advertising and marketing communications plan for one of Cossette's clients.  In this case it was McDonald's of Canada.

Len Olszewski, coordinator of the St. Clair College Advertising program said the team faced off against the best students from the top Advertising programs in Ontario, including Centennial, Mohawk, Sheridan and Seneca, in the GTA. “This speaks to the excellence of these students, but also to the quality of our Advertising program. Our curriculum and our professors train them to run with the best, and to win.”

Cossette is one of the top international communications companies offering advertising and communications services to more than 800 clients of all sizes. Cossette supplied the judging panel for the competition. Members of the AEAC are professors and instructors who teach in advertising programs across the country.

This is St. Clair College's second year participating in this particular event. Last year the team came away with a Silver medal.
