May 8, 2008 ~ Windsor, Ont.; For the second year in a row, St. Clair College’s Advertising students won top honours at the annual Integrated Marketing Communications Plan Competition.

The win marks the fifth time in 11 years St. Clair has won gold at the competition, which is sponsored by the Advertising Educators’ Association of Canada (AEAC).The team of second and third-year students was awarded the gold medal based on high scores received by a panel of industry professionals for their integrated marketing communications plan.

“Our teams have also won two silver medals and two bronze medals over the past 11 years, making us the school with the most gold medals and most medals overall,” said Len Olszewski, Advertising Program Coordinator and team coach.

The competing college teams were presented with a real world case which required an integrated marketing communications plan to be completed in a period of eight hours. The teams could receive no help from anyone. Submissions were judged individually, on a blind basis, using a scoring system provided by the AEAC.

“One judge stated the St. Clair team’s submission 'was head and shoulders above the rest,' while another judge gave them an astonishing 99.5% score," said the President of the AEAC.

Congratulations to Lindsay McAfrey, Nicole Stollar, Deborah Birchard, Steven Muzzin, Kyle Temple, Shonna Spencer and Daniel Connor. Team Captain Lindsay McAfrey had the honour of participating on two gold medal teams in a row. She graduated this year with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the program.

The Advertising Program at St. Clair College has a strong reputation across Canada, with graduates employed at major national and international communications companies in Windsor, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Detroit and New York.
