It was with great excitement that our Thames Campus received $309,500 in provincial funding from Pat Hoy, our M.P.P. Chatham-Kent-Essex, so St. Clair College can start a Baking Techniques and Baking program in September 2011, pending Ministry approvals.

Through the Rural Economic Development Program, this funding will help purchase and install equipment and fittings required to provide baking courses. The program is being made possible through the funding and partnerships between the college, municipality and building owner Dan Warrener.

The location of this baking school will be part of the retrofit of the historic building at the corner of King and 5th street in the heart of Downtown Chatham. We are looking to provide State of the Art trades education and training for the community of Chatham-Kent.

“St. Clair College, with the help of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, is continuing its successful efforts to revitalize our communities. Infrastructure investments are an important part of the province's new Open Ontario plan to create jobs and opportunities," Hoy said.
