ST. CLAIR STUDENTS BRING HOME 7 MEDALS



At the 20th annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition (Ontario Skills), held in Waterloo on May 4-5, St. Clair College's team won an impressive 7 medals in various competition categories. Ontario Skills is an annual three-day event in which students from across the province have the opportunity to showcase their talents and test themselves against industry standards. At this year's event, more than 1,600 competitors from across Ontario competed in 60 events including robotics, culinary arts, landscaping, and welding.

St. Clair College's medal winners are:
  • Callan Zborowski, a third-year student in the Automotive Product Design program, won the GOLD MEDAL in the Mechanical CAD competition.
  • Chelsea Massimino, a second-year student in the Automotive Product Design program, won the BRONZE MEDAL in the Mechanical CAD competition.
  • Walter LaPlante and Jon Paul Huggins, students in the Mechatronics program, won the SILVER MEDAL in the Mechatronics competition.
  • Connie Verbeke, a student in the Culinary Skills program, won the BRONZE MEDAL in the Baking competition.
  • Gillian Perry and Mitchell Schinkel, students in the Horticulture Techniques - Landscape program, won the SILVER MEDAL at Canada Blooms in Toronto in March. See the news story here.
The gold-medal winners qualify to be part of Team Ontario at the Skills Canada National Competition, May 20-23 in Prince Edward Island.
