Hospice Benefits From Holiday CD

Carol Derbyshire (far left), Executive Director of The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County receives a $10,000 donation from (l to r) Richard Cosley White, President of Blackburn Radio, local musicians Jody Raffoul & Jeff Burrows, and Dr. John Strasser, President of St. Clair College.

St. Clair College presented a cheque in the amount of $10,000 to The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County in the studios of Blackburn Radio at noon on Monday, January 23rd. The donation was the result of sales from a fundraising Holiday CD called “A Time For Joy”. Jody Raffoul and Jeff Burrows of Tea Party teamed up with St. Clair College and Blackburn Radio to produce the 10 song collection of holiday music.

“It was fitting that the cheque was presented in the studios of Blackburn Radio where the idea started.”, says Ron Seguin, Vice President of Global Education and Training Services at St. Clair College. “With over 3,000 copies sold in just six weeks, this CD was definitely a hit! We sold the music all over the world;  Australia, England and of course right here in Windsor-Essex and we're proud to partner with The Hospice who does such great work for our community.”

“It's always a pleasure to partner with St. Clair College,” said Carol Derbyshire, Executive Director of The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. “This was another hugely successful effort and we very much appreciate Jody and Jeff thinking of The Hospice and generously donating half of the proceeds from their wonderful CD and holiday concert .”

Proceeds of the campaign were split between The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County and the St. Clair College Centre for Applied Heath Sciences. Funds were raised through the selling of the CD and through a concert at the Chrysler Theatre on December 18th. Production of the CD was sponsored by Blackburn Radio, St. Clair College Alumni Association, the St. Clair College Student Representative Council and SLR Studios. The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County is an “oasis” of peace, comfort and trust supporting the whole person with respect, compassion and empathy. They support, empower and educate those who are suffering from or caring for a person with a life-altering diagnosis.

St. Clair College is training the next generation of health care professionals. A portion of the proceeds from this CD will go towards purchasing state-of-the-art equipment to benefit students in their newly built Centre for Applied Health Sciences.
