(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Women’s Basketball team found some more weapons adding 5’10 forward Kirsten Zelina (Wallaceburg, ON) and 5’5 guard Anna Ulicny (Belle River, ON) to their incoming 2017-18 recruiting class.
Ulicny is a product of the very successful St. Anne Catholic High School program and received All-Star recognition in 2016 at the WECSSAA Tier I Level. She may see time for the Saints at both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Ulicny will pursue a diploma at St. Clair College in the Child and Youth Care program.
Said Saints Head Coach Andy Kiss, “Anna plays with a high ‘IQ’ on the floor and possesses good range on her jump shot while also being a very good defender. She is another excellent addition to the Saints Women's Basketball team.”
Zelina will study Practical Nursing starting this fall at St. Clair College and will bolster the forward position for the Saints. She also received All-Star acknowledgement in 2016 for the LKSSAA league for Wallaceburg District High School and her Wallaceburg AirHawks club team captured a Division I Bronze Medal recently at the U19 Provincial Championship.
“Kirsten plays with a high compete level at both ends of the floor and can knock down the 15-17 foot jump shot. With experience as a rugby player she has no doubt made herself into a smart and physical defender. She is a tremendous pick-up for our program and we look forward to her putting on the Saints uniform next fall,” commented St. Clair Head Coach Andy Kiss.
Kiss continued, “Both players are products of strong high school and club programs who have benefitted from excellent coaching and development. Kudos and thanks to these respective programs as St. Clair is very grateful to be a beneficiary of their great work.”
Zelina will likely feel at home joining Saints 4th year forward Torrie Handsor and incoming player Jaimi Chauvin who both hail from Wallaceburg. Chauvin along with first year players Logan and Jana Kucera were all teammates in the Wallaceburg AirHawks club program as well.
