(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair men’s soccer team continued their OCAA schedule on Tuesday evening taking on the Lambton Lions (Sarnia) at the Main Campus Field.
The St. Clair men had a strong match coming away with a convincing 3-0 win over the Lions. Martin Nyul (Hungary) got the Saints on the board early scoring a nice goal in the 11th minute. Evan Mendonca (London) put the Saints up 2-0 on a nice header in the 17th minute. Korede Adepitan (Toronto) made it 3-0 for St. Clair in the 26th minute. The Saint dominated the play most of the first half with 15 shot attempts compared to 5 for Lambton. St. Clair had 7 shots on goal while the Lions had 2.
The second half was much closer as the Lions pushed hard to even the gap and the Saints sat back and defended their lead but neither squad could put one in the back of the net. The shot attempts were even at 8 with Lambton putting 4 shots on goal compared to 2 for St. Clair. Petur Mar Bernhoft (Iceland) earned the win and clean sheet in goal.
The St. Clair men are currently ranked 5th in the OCAA and improved to 2-0 on the season with the win. The St. Clair men resume their OCAA schedule on Sunday afternoon at 4 pm when they host the Niagara College Knights at the Main Campus Field.
(London, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team split a doubleheader Tuesday night against Fanshawe College at London’s Stronach Park moving their league leading record to 5-1 early in the OCAA regular season.
The Saints took the opening game 10-2 but fell 5-2 in the second game. St. Clair 2nd year pitcher Sara Stiller (Windsor, ON/Holy Names earned the win striking out 3 batters in 7 innings of work while only surrendering 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Sarah Bondy (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) and Megan Lumley (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) each had two hits for the Saints with Michaela Rilett (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) driving in 3 runs. In game two St. Clair held a 2-0 lead after the opening inning but gave up 5 runs down the stretch to stop their winning streak at five. Olivia Elliott (Oakville, ON) took the loss for St. Clair but struck out 8 Fanshawe batters over 6 innings. Lumley had another 3 hits with Rilett adding 2 RBI’s for the Saints.
