St. Clair Women's Volleyball Defeat Cambrian

(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College women’s volleyball team improved their OCAA record to 5-2 on the season defeating the Cambrian Golden Shield at the Sportsplex on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints won the match by a score of 3-0. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-17, 25-19, and 25-22. It was a solid all around team effort by St. Clair. Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby) led the way offensively with 15 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block and 15 digs. Middle Jessica Masse (Cottam) had a great match as well with 7 kills, 1 service ace, 2 stuff blocks and 3 digs. Libero Julie Ann Milling had a great game with 4 assists and 18 digs. The St. Clair women are currently ranked 6th in Ontario. The loss dropped Cambrian’s record to 3-4 on the season.

The women are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the College Boreal Viperes at noon at the Sportsplex in their final home match of the semester. The game will also be shown live on YourTV Windsor (Channel 11 or 700HD)

Men's Volleyball Defeat Cambrian College

(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team improved their OCAA record to 4-3 on the season defeating the Cambrian Golden Shield at the Sportsplex on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints won the match by a score of 3-0. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-15, 25-16, and 25-19. It was a solid all around team effort by St. Clair with the entire roster seeing lots of action on the court. Middle Ubert Batista (Panama) led the way offensively with 6 kills. Robert Carter (Wallacetown) had a great match as well with 5 kills, 1 service ace, and 2 digs. The St. Clair men are currently ranked 8th in Ontario. The loss dropped Cambrian’s record to 1-6 on the season.

The men are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the College Boreal Viperes at 2 pm at the Sportsplex in their final home match of the semester. The game will also be shown live on YourTV Windsor (Channel 11 or 700HD)

St. Clair College Basketball Split in Sarnia

(Sarnia, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Women’s Basketball team travelled to Sarnia Saturday and came away with an 80-31 afternoon win over Lambton College moving their OCAA West Region record to 6-2. A strong first quarter lead of 24-10 for the Saints was followed by an anemic offensive output by both teams in the second quarter. Up 31-14 at the break St. Clair picked up the pace in the second half scoring 49 points to just 17 for Lambton. The Saints held the home team to just 25% shooting from the field in the game and forced 26 turnovers scoring 29 unanswered points.

Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph’s) and Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) each scored 15 points for the Saints with both contributing 5 rebounds apiece. Kennedy added a pair of blocked shots also.

Lambton’s Sarah Bate (Sarnia, ON) scored 13 points in the loss.

The St. Clair College Men’s Basketball team let one slip away Saturday afternoon in Sarnia dropping an 81-75 decision to Lambton College. The Saints held a 70-66 lead with under 3 minutes to play in the fourth quarter. But St. Clair surrendered an 11-0 run and could not make up the difference in the final minute which turned out to be Lambton’s largest lead of the game. It was close knit throughout with the teams trading 8 lead changes and sharing another 10 ties. St. Clair had a slim 37-36 halftime lead and entered the fourth quarter up 56-53. Three Saints did not reach the end of the game due to foul trouble but they did make 8 triples as a team in the contest. Lambton’s biggest statistical advantage came at the free throw line where they scored 27 points to just 9 for the Saints.

3rd year guard Will Lara-Caston (Windsor, ON/JL Forster) scored 24 points to go with 8 rebounds and 6 steals for the Saints. Shawon Anderson (Windsor, ON/WF Herman) made 3 triples on his way to 13 points for St. Clair with Gil Atencio (Panama City, Panama) and Jermaine Lynch (Windsor, ON/JL Forster) chipping in with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Lambton’s Branden Padgett (Detroit, MI) scored a game high 28 points to lead his team to the win.

St. Clair Men's Volleyball Improve to 5-3

(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College men’s volleyball team improved their OCAA record to 5-3 on the season defeating the College Boreal Vipers at the Sportsplex on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints won the match by a score of 3-0. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-6, 25-13, and 25-11. It was a solid all around team effort by St. Clair with the entire roster seeing lots of action on the court. Michael Knight (LaSalle) led the way offensively with 6 kills, 1 stuff block and 1 dig in 2 sets played. The St. Clair men are currently ranked 8th in Ontario. The loss dropped Boreal’s record to 0-8 on the season.

The men are next in action on Wednesday night when they travel to London to take on the top ranked Fanshawe Falcons in their final match of the semester.
