(Hamilton, Ontario) - The St. Clair College varsity soccer teams were on the road on Saturday in Hamilton to face the Mohawk Mountaineers. On a wet and rainy day the Saints came away with 2 convincing wins.
The women defeated the Mountaineers by a score of 2-0. In an evenly played first half St. Clair took the lead on a goal by Kristen Melo in extra time. St. Clair outshot Mohawk 8-6 in the second half and had 12 shot attempts compared to 10 for the Mountaineers. Alexandria Samping earned the win and clean sheet. With the win the Saints improved to 5 wins and a tie on the season. Mohawk's record fell to 3 wins and 3 losses.
The St. Clair men defeated Mohawk 1-0. On a day when the Saints were not at their best they managed to pull off the win. The game was scoreless in the first half with Mohawk outshooting St. Clair 4-1 and holding a 9-4 edge with shot attempts. The Saints scored the winning goal one minute into the second half on a nice goal by Leighton Speechley-Price. The win improved the Saint's record to 5 wins and a loss.
(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team ran their record to 13-3 and stand atop the OCAA with a doubleheader sweep of Mohawk College on Sunday at the campus diamond after an hour delay due to diamond preparation from the previous night's rains. The Saints needed an extra inning in the opening game but were victorious after 2nd year centerfielder Megan Lumley (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) laced a walk-off hit to left field to score the winning run from 3rd base. Alexa Georgiou (Windsor, ON/Assumption) recorded 14 strikeouts going the distance over 8 innings. St. Clair pounded 16 hits in the second game for a 9-1 win with rookie catcher Alexandra Senft (Windsor, ON/Walkerville) picking up 5 RBI's on 3 hits.
(Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) - The St. Clair College Cross Country team competed in their second event of the season Saturday morning at the Sault College Invitational in Sault Ste. Marie, ON at Crimson Ridge Golf Club. The meet featured 9 OCAA schools along with an OUA school and will be the host site of the CCAA National Championship Nov. 12th. The St. Clair Women's team ran to a 3rd Place finish while the Men were 6th in the team competition.
Leading the Saints Women's team was Megan Howell (Harrow, ON/Harrow District) who finished in 6th Place with a time of 20:33 over the 5km loop. Other finishers for St. Clair were Hannah Cirino (21:08, 10th Place), Beth Horrobin (21:44, 16th Place), Aryanna Cirino (21:59, 20th Place), Toria Verbeek 22:35, 21st Place), and Abbey Rice (23:39, 28th Place) in a field of 51 finishers.
The St. Clair Men were led by 11th Place finisher Ricky Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in a time of 28:12 over the 8km course. The remainder of the Saints Men's team included Ryan Bell (30:34, 38th Place), Jason Kerr (31:01, 42nd Place), Andrew Garant (31:11, 45th Place), Justin Folkeringa (31:26, 46th Place) and Jordon Root (33:18, 54th Place) in a field of 70 runners.
