(Etobicoke, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team moved their record to 11-3 atop the OCAA standings after splitting at Humber College (8-6) in Etobicoke at Connorvale Park Sunday. St. Clair won the opening game by a score of 2-1 but fell 6-5 in the second game of the doubleheader.
Shane Courtney (Windsor, ON) pitched a complete game 3-hitter for St. Clair in the opener and walked no batters in a great performance. Max Ayarza (Bocas del Toro, Panama) and Kevin Dion (Newmarket, ON) each had a pair of hits in the victory for the Saints. But Eric Cunningham (Lasalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Matt Bassingthwaighte (Windsor, ON/FJ Brennan) supplied the RBI singles to account for the St. Clair scoring.
In the second game St. Clair took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning but fell behind 3-1 by the 3rd inning and then 6-3 by the 4th inning. The Saints made it interesting by getting to within a run by the 6th inning but could not get anyone on base in the 7th inning.
The Saints will host doubleheaders Friday versus Seneca College (North York) with game times of 6:00/8:00pm and then Saturday against George Brown College (Toronto) at 1:00/3:00pm all at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh. They cap their OCAA regular season schedule with a doubleheader at Durham College in Oshawa on Sunday Oct. 16th.
