(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair Culinary Club donated $4,000 to local charities during an event called Cooking for a Cause held at Eatery 101 Thursday afternoon.

Throughout the year, the Club cooked up several fundraising initiatives to benefit a handful of local organizations that rely on public donations. The beneficiaries, which each received $1,000, are: the Hiatus House, the John McGivney Children's Centre, For the Love of Paws Animal Rescue and the Windsor Youth Centre.

Throughout the year, their fundraising initiatives included: the Annual Christmas Bake sale in cooperation with Chef Eva Cross and Chef Brittany Calsavara; a Halloween event; several raffles, such as the Ultimate Christmas Dinner and a Valentine's Day raffle; and a Christmas canned good drive.

"My executives and members have worked very hard since September 2015 to hold such events," said Club President and second-year Culinary Management student Trevor Elliott. "Each and every member has had the chance to play in several roles throughout all of these fundraising efforts, and for this, I thank you and applaud your dedication."

He added that they are all also very grateful to the chefs and staff in the Culinary Management program for their assistance with the Club's efforts.

Thursday's celebration at Eatery 101 included gourmet hors d'oeuvres, speeches and a cheque presentation.
