Denis Giles, YMCA Co-ordinator of Health, Fitness and Recreation, noted that St. Clair Instructor Pete Soulliere played a huge part in the success of the event.
"He gave so much of his personal time and he rallied students to be participants," said Giles. "He was able to motivate on the day and raise more than I expected."
St. Clair's team's goal was $1,000 but the team ended up raising close to $1,500!
"Pete volunteered to be a cycling instructor at two of the time slots, which involved personal hours of practice and a weekend training course at the London YMCA," said Giles. "Without Pete, I don't think we would have been as successful as we were."
YMCA engaged 650 participants and 81 corporate sponsors at 4 event locations across Ontario. The annual event raised $145,000 for YMCA Strong Kids!
The vital funds raised from the event will ensure kids and families have access to YMCA programs and services regardless of their financial ability to pay, including swimming lessons and gym memberships.
