PR Students Perform Ignite-Style Presentations in Downtown Windsor
Windsor, ON - St. Clair College Public Relations students gave Ignite-style presentations at Milk Coffee Bar in downtown Windsor Wednesday night.

PR Faculty Lori Newton said it was an opportunity for the students to get some real-world presentation experience in a public space "well outside the comfort of the classroom" and in an environment where strangers were welcome to listen in.

"They are fast, furious and fun," said Newton of the assignment, which is part of the Public Relations Presentations Skills course she teaches with Laura Tucker.

Each performance featured 20 PowerPoint slides that auto forward every 15 seconds so each presentation is only five minutes long, explained Newton.

"The format forces students to focus on clarity and succinctness," said Newton. "Careful planning and ruthless editing is paramount."

The students were animated and enthusiastic as they gave their persuasive performances to a jam-packed crowd.
