First Year DSW Students Get INSPIRED!
Windsor, Ontario - The Developmental Services Worker program at Thames Campus took a very innovative approach to the first day of class for first year students in the program. Faculty named the day "WE INSPIRE" to provide some motivation and inspiration for students as they start their first day of class.

Guest speakers were invited to bring first hand insight into the industry. People from Community Living Chatham-Kent as well as others in the community talked about what it's like to support individuals with intellectual disabilities to speak in the community.

Students received custom lanyards in a bright orange that say "St. Clair DSW We Inspire" and developed the "million dollar motivator" which showed students that earning their diploma would mean greater income throughout their career (and the chocolate loonies were a hit too)!

Finally, the We Inspire Graffiti Wall allowed students to write inspirational messages about how others have inspired them and how they might inspire in their careers was a great end to an inspiring day. The We Inspire Graffiti Wall will stay up in the classroom and be added to throughout the year.

Program Coordinator Connie Marion was thrilled with the day's events. "The overall reaction to the day was very positive and it was a huge success from our perspective! We really felt inspired as much as the students did. It was an amazing way to kick off the year."
